Advanced Court Skills workshop

September 14 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Objective of the workshop:

On completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  • Discuss and apply the techniques involved in giving evidence via video link;
  • Discuss and apply the techniques involved in giving concurrent evidence (hot tubbing); and
  • Discuss the devices and techniques used in cross-examination.

Workshop content:

Giving oral testimony in court is a skill, as important as the technical aspects of forensic practitioners’ role.

Whist many practitioners have participated in some introductory training, this workshop is designed for forensic practitioners with some (or a lot) of experience giving evidence and aims to familiarise the participants alternative forms of testimony (remote via video link and concurrent, also know colloquially as hot tubing). There will also be discussion and demonstration of some of the devices and techniques used during cross-examination and practices to respond to such devices and techniques.

The workshop will be held in a Courtroom environment where there will be access to video link.

Participants will be given the opportunity of presenting evidence via video link and as part of a ‘hot tub’.
